Race 1 saw 24 cars take the Green Flag, the battle for the lead would be fought by 4 drivers for the entire race with Challenge Cup drivers Ray Carmody taking first place, followed by Dean Curtis and Phil Wang in 3rd Place. For the F1200 Series Drivers, top 3 would be Phil Wang, Bill Mitchell and Jeremy Steinhausen rounding out the top 3. Noticeable mention needs to go out to Megan Gilkes for jump 8 positions during the race to finish 9th overall, 5th in the F1200 as well as Jeremy Steinhausen for getting fastest overall lap.

Race 2 would change dramatically the weekend’s events. A freak accident in lap 3 caused a red flag situation, which would bring the cars onto the grid for some time and drivers and track were attended to. During the Red Flag period, in typical Mosport fashion, Mother Nature gave us a show of Rain, Wind, Sun and Hail all in a 20 minute period. Upon the restart drivers found for the lead knowing that there would not be much time left. After only 6 laps the checked flag was waved, Ray Carmody would with his second race of the weekend, followed by Brazilian driver Murillo Latore and F1200 Peter Hanson. For the F1200 Series Drivers, top 3 would be Peter Hanson, Phil Wang, and Sid Nye rounding up the top 3.

Race 3 would see a smaller field of cars take the track, but an exciting race never the less. With a hard fought battle the entire race. This time around Barrett Kingsborough would take the win, followed closely by Gregory Hovesen and Ray Carmody. F1200 Series drivers top 3 would be Barrett Kingsborough, Gregory Hovesen and Phil Wang.

We would like to thank our sponsor Miller’s Oil for supporting amateur racing in Canada as well as all the drivers that attended the event, from all parts of the world. Really, creating a great weekend of racing for everyone involved.

We would also like to congratulate the first three winners of the 2017 FTDA Drivers Contingency Program.  They are Bill Mitchell, Jeremy Steinhausen and Syd Nye who took home the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.  Another 3 drivers will be randomly selected at the next event.

Next event will be June 24/25 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Showcase of Motorsports.
